Resident doctors reject quarantine norms , to observe Black ribbon protest tomorrow

Resident doctors all over the country will be observing Black ribbon protest tomorrow during their hospital duties in protest against the quarantine guidelines issued by Health Ministry on 15th May, which proposes that their is no necessity of mandatory quarantine requirement and covid 19 testing after the doctors performed their covid ward duties. Resident doctors who are providing heroic services during the times of National Health emergency are feeling betrayed with this guidelines and have rejected the unscientific guidelines in unison.
After the latest guidelines issued by Ministry of Health dated 15th May, 2020 which proposes no necessity of mandatory quarantine and covid testing of HCWs posted in Covid wards, a major storm has erupted since last three days all over the country especially in Delhi, with prominent Resident Doctors Associations of India of all prominent medical colleges rejecting the guidelines in unison. From Delhi to Amritsar , to Andhra Pradesh to UP India's Resident Doctors has opposed the illogically drafted guidelines of Health Ministry which allows HCWs to go home after their duty thus exposing their family members too with virus transmission. Doctors from Maulana Azad , Lohia Hospital Delhi, AIIMS Delhi , SGPGI , KGMU and all others has demanded immediate suspension of the guidelines and safeguard the lives of frontline warriors.
A twitter pan India campaign has been launched which was one of the top trending hashtags, getting support of all independent public health experts and health voices.
Federation of Resident Doctors Association of India ( FORDA India ) also stated on their official Twitter handle they are going forward with their justified demand of Quarantine for HCWs. They had appealed all Doctors & other HCWs to join in the Black Ribbon Protest at work tomorrow.
The recent change of quarantine guidelines for HCWs in Covid duties are unfair, illogical and unacceptable, says a press brief of RDA, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital , Delhi.
RDA RML hospital along with its nursing union will be observing Black band protest tomorrow rejecting the proposed guidelines. They fear that they could be asymptotic carriers of virus once they go homes after discharging their covid duties.
RDA AIIMS mentioned on their Twitter handle that Government should expand the facilities for health care workers rather than withdrawing the quarantine facilities for CovidWarrior.This will decrease their morale and increase the risk of transmission in their families.
The quarantine for health care workers needs to be reconsidered, we cannot punish our family's for all their struggles in making us a doctor and motivating to serve society, says Resident Doctors Association of Karnataka.
Healthcare is bound to crumble, threatening community transmission , states RDA KGMU on its twitter platform.
In a letter addresed to Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan it said RDA KGMU stands in solidarity with other institutions with other institutions in this time of pandemic and demands necessary amendments in quarantine guidelines.
Almost all the prominent resident doctors associations of country has stated their anger over the illogical guidelines and demanded immediate renewal of old guidelines and maintain status quo which was applicable before. Moreover the orders of immediate vacation of hotels where residents were continuing their quarantine period was also seen as a inhumane gesture.
