IMA Students Wing UP writes letter to UP CM demanding hike in internship stipend

Indian Medical Association- Students Wing Uttar Pradesh has written a letter to UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath demanding CM's intervention to address the pending issue of stipend faced by interns in various medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh.  IMA MSN which is the largest network of medical students with membership base from all medical colleges raised this issue of internship stipend pending for long .

In Government medical colleges , internship stipend has not been increased since last 10 years as per different students of respective colleges & stipend provided is still meagre amount of Rs. 7500 making it unsatisfactory considering the current market inflation scenario and as compared with Central government medical colleges where it is Rs. 23,500.

Meanwhile in private medical colleges , stipend paid is around 6000 or less and in some colleges it is unpaid. The letter stated that students are highly demotivated considering this discrimatory nature which they are facing .

The letter released dated 23rd April is undersigned by State Convenor Dr Rajnish Raj , General Secretary Dr Rahul Anand & council member Dr Tarun Sharma.

The letter also addressed the issue of non-unoformity in final year examination and results publication. It requested the government to make a uniform time table for all Government/ private universities so that a disciplined schedule is followed.

The letter stated IMA Medical Students Network on behalf of all medical interns ensured that medical students of UP are committed to serve the nation and state in all crucial times  as health professionals and working vigorously during covid pandemic.
